Dubai is very quickly growing into a formidable sporting destination for UK school groups to visit. Cricket, rugby, netball, and football are amongst the most popular sporting codes and there are plenty of schools and clubs in Dubai that are keen to welcome touring teams.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has its headquarters in Dubai which provides the necessary infrastructure to support a thriving club and schools cricket system from junior to senior level. One of the latest new additions, is the purpose built $4 billion Dubai Sports City development, which proudly boasts some of the best sporting facilities available, catering for cricket, football, athletics, and field hockey.
Dubai also hosts the Dubai Sevens international rugby tournament, which takes place annually and forms part of the IRB Sevens World Series. This event has given birth to hundreds of emerging rugby clubs in and around the city and the level and quality of rugby has increased gradually.
